As a Brand Manager – the scope of your responsibility can depend on your level of seniority. Businesses may employ one Brand Manager or a brand team, including junior, mid and senior level brand management roles. Either way, you are generally part of a marketing team.
Alongside your team, you will create a lasting impression among your target audience, clients and consumers (depending whether it’s a B2B or B2C focus). You’ll monitor market trends while keeping an eye on what the marketing team plans and produces, to ensure that the right message is delivered for the product or service you are representing. It may be also your job to produce brand guidelines and brand toolkits which could be utilised for multiple products or services.
To be successful, you will ‘own’ how the product and brand is positioned, where it fits when looking at the entire market and specifically direct competitors. Together with your branding team and the marketing team, you will set values you’d like your brand to be associated with. You then develop strategies to strengthen the brand, reaching further – to ultimately increase value and profits.
Depending on a size of a company you work for, you can be involved in building a brand from scratch or you could be a part of a brand refresh or a rebranding project.
