DisruptSW – Top 25 Disruptive Businesses in the SW Revealed

In collaboration with our friends at Tällt Ventures and Foot Anstey we revealed the Top 25 Disruptive Businesses in the South West last week. The DisruptSW Index is the first of its kind, recognising the top 25 ventures with headquarters in the region who hold the greatest potential to influence, change or create new markets.

A pretty impressive lineup to say the least. You can see the full listing here on disruptsouthwest.co.uk.

The index contains scaleups and startups from a range of sectors – from artificial intelligence and machine learning to 3D printing technology.

Just a few some stand outs:

• Across the 25 ventures 20% are using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• 20% are developing cloud and X-as-a-service tools and 16% are using 3D technology.
• Investment into the 25 ventures has been substantial. Since 2015 the 25 ventures listed in the index have received over £130 million in funding, with over 80% of the total investment going into the top three ventures; Ultrahapics; FiveAI and Graphcore.

The index has tracked startups form the region, analysing each venture against a scoring matrix to determine their disruptive potential with particular analysis on the people behind the business, the product they’ve created and the potential they have to scale and disrupt markets.

What is next for DiusrutSW?
DisruptSW won’t stop here. DisruptSW is set to remain an initiative and place to share, celebrate and connect SW Success.
