Why consider a career as an IT Architect?
An Architect can create, design and own a technical solution or product utilising a wide range of technical skills to include infrastructure, networking, storage, development and much more. You are often able to evaluate, select and champion technology and play a key role in bringing together other technical and non-technical teams. As a result, it’s often a highly sought-after and rewarding profession.
What an IT Architect career or job may entail…
The primary duties of an IT Architect are to design and maintain computer networks, software and applications of all sizes and complexities. Architects are often asked to act as a liaison between other solution stakeholders, they tend to be the key resource in determining when a solution needs to be dropped. They question assumptions and drive change to mitigate potential risks. While other roles may be involved in this, architects typically have the best vantage point to deal with it. Architects are change agents. More so than any other IT professional, architects are asked to either envision or evaluate new technology and lead the move toward it.

Salary and Day Rate Benchmarks
Here, we aim to provide an overall range of day rates and salaries.
There are always factors to consider when assigning a day rate and salary to a role, such as the skill demand, location, complexity, level of responsibility as well as what other benefits are on offer, such as remote working. Salaries
Architect roles are senior positions. Within software development and infrastructure sectors we’d expect them to start at £55K.
Day Rates
At an entry-level, for a junior/graduate a typical day rate would be around the £300 mark, at the mid-level around the £400 mark and seniors can expect a day rate of £500+ as a benchmark.
