About the role…

As the Managing Director at Biohm, you will play a pivotal role in translating our innovative research into market-ready solutions. You will lead our commercialisation efforts, oversee strategic partnerships, manage our intellectual property portfolio, and drive the business growth of Biohm. Reporting directly to the Chief Evolution Officer (CEO), you will spearhead the commercialisation function, which includes the Impact Solutions Director, Head of Partnerships, Head of IP, Head of Process Innovation, and Commercial Lead. Your strategic vision and leadership will be critical in ensuring that Biohm’s biotechnologies reach global markets, making a tangible impact on key global industries and creating long-term value for the company.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic Commercial Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies that align with Biohm’s vision for regenerative biotechnologies.
  • Lead the commercialisation of Biohm’s intellectual property (IP) through IP transfer, licensing deals, Subsidiary M&As, and strategic partnerships with multinationals.
  • Work closely with the CEO to translate R&D innovations into market-ready solutions, ensuring a seamless pathway from lab to market.
  • Work closely with the CEO, Operations Director, Finance Director, Head of Partnerships, and external legal counsel to drive the evolution of Biohm’s group structure toward supporting commercialisation efforts and client needs.

IP Management and Strategic Partnerships:

  • Oversee the management and commercialisation of Biohm’s IP portfolio, working closely with the Head of IP to identify opportunities for IP licensing, sale, and partnerships that maximise revenue and market impact.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with industry leaders, multinationals, and key stakeholders to drive the adoption of Biohm’s biotechnologies.
  • Collaborate with the Head of IP to ensure the protection and optimisation of Biohm’s intellectual property rights.

Oversight of Commercialisation and Impact Functions:

  • Lead and manage the commercialisation and impact teams, including the Director of Impact Solutions, Head of Partnerships, Head of Process Innovation, and Commercial Lead.
  • Drive the development and execution of go-to-market strategies, ensuring that all commercial activities are aligned with Biohm’s mission and revenue goals.
  • Oversee the performance of  the Impact Solutions Director, and ensure the successful delivery of impact solutions to multinational clients.

Market Strategy and Business Growth:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and market needs, adapting Biohm’s commercial strategy to stay ahead in the market.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand Biohm’s market presence, entering new markets and industries with high growth potential
  • Collaborate with the Impact Solutions Director to integrate market insights into commercialisation strategies, ensuring that market needs are addressed effectively.

Financial Oversight and Performance Management:

  • Take ownership of the commercialisation function’s financial performance, including revenue generation, P&L management, and budget optimisation.
  • Set and monitor financial KPIs, ensuring that revenue targets, licensing deals, and partnership agreements are met or exceeded.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director to develop financial forecasts and reporting for the commercial division.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the CEO, Head of R&D and Head of Process Innovation to align commercial efforts with the company’s research and tech scaling direction and ensure market readiness of new technologies.
  • Foster strong cross-functional teamwork, creating integrated project teams to facilitate the seamless transition of innovations from R&D to market.
  • Liaise with the Operations Director to ensure that operational capacity and resources are in place to support scaling and commercialisation activities.

Stakeholder Management and Reporting:

  • Engage with the board of directors, investors, and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on commercial performance, strategic partnerships, and market expansion activities.
  • Represent Biohm at industry events, conferences, and key client meetings to strengthen the company’s profile and drive strategic business growth.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercialisation team, fostering a compassionate culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Ensure that the commercialisation team has the resources, training, and support needed to achieve strategic objectives and drive market success.

Key Requirements & skills:

  • Experience: You have extensive experience in commercial strategy, IP management, and business development, ideally within the biotechnology, construction, materials and physical products, general tech, or sustainability sectors. You have a proven track record in leading and succeeding high-level and high-value strategic negotiations
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, setting and achieving financial targets, and driving revenue growth. You are skilled in financial forecasting, budgeting, and optimising the financial performance of a commercial division.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams. You are an innovative thinker and a strategic leader who can inspire and guide your team to deliver excellence and drive measurable impact.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to establish and nurture strategic partnerships with multinationals and key industry players.
  • Innovation and Market Insight: A forward-thinking approach with the ability to translate cutting-edge research into market-ready solutions. You have a deep understanding of market trends, emerging technologies, and the commercialisation of innovative products.
