Join a medium sized research company working within the environment, ICT, healthcare, science and food space. A company passionate about sustainability and ethical business looking for a Patent and Business Analyst offering great benefits and a friendly workplace. The Patent and Business Analyst will research competitor activities, analyse the patent landscape and maintain software licence tools.
What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering competitor activity analysis within the companies’ fields of interest through developing comprehensive patent search strategies, analysing the output and using visualisation tools to clearly communicate the analysis.
  • Delivering competitor analysis reports, combined with business intelligence, to internal colleagues.
  • Obtaining business intelligence through the continuous monitoring and analysis of competitor Intellectual Property developments and communicate findings as reports.
  • Maintaining all licenses for software search tools relevant to the role and serve as the primary liaison with external patent search providers.
  • Continuously understanding and following the health, safety and environmental policies and procedures in place.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of compliance within the scope of responsibility.

What experience you will need to apply:

  • Strong scientific background, including degree in a Chemistry, Material Science, Biochemistry or Physics, ideally with a PhD.
  • Previous experience of performing reiterative searches to yield highly relevant but succinct datasets and interpreting and communicating the results.
  • Strong scientific communication skills and strong understanding of theoretical backgrounds.
  • A demonstratable interest in patents, coupled with a desire to deliver business intelligence to help guide activities in new sustainable business ventures.
  • Interest and adaptability to become familiar with new technologies.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with patents, doing patent searching and analysis.
  • Experience finding, interpreting and presenting business intelligence.
  • Experience with major patent related databases, for example Derwent Innovation, PatentSight, or Orbit.
