Veterinarian

This is an opportunity to join a company dedicated to reducing the impact of cattle farming – beef and dairy industries – on the environment. This role combines animal welfare, surgical expertise, research trials and experimental design so would be idea of a registered vet looking to make a difference in the world of agritech and sustainability. With offices in London and on-site work in Reading there is a requirement to be able to commute to both sites fairly regularly.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working alongside the R&D team to study bovine respiratory mechanics, behaviour and welfare helping to contribute to future sustainable farming practices.
  • Analyse data to establish information about animal health, welfare and environmental impact.
  • Design and lead clinical trials to test the efficacy, safety and impact of the new technology while ensuring compliance with regulations. Also design experiments to enhance animal welfare whilst mitigating environmental impact.
  • Hands on farm vet work – closely monitor behaviour and health of cattle that are part of the experiment process.
  • Directly liaise with partners within academic, corporate and research space representing the company within the veterinary science space.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Animal Science team internally, also guiding engineering team in order to bridge the gap between the technology and animal welfare.
  • Visit farms as needed supporting product development and implementation.

What experience you will need to apply:

  • Veterinary degree (BVSc or equivalent) with specialism in bovine health and welfare.
  • Previous experience working within the bovine veterinary science space with a focus on welfare, respiratory mechanics, and digestive systems.
  • Knowledge and previous experience of working under Animal Scientific Procedures Act (1986).
  • Strong background in clinical research and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with wearable tech/devices or similar vet tech.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards related to animal health and experimentation as well as environmental monitoring – UK specific.

Desirable experience: Experience with wearable technology or environmental monitoring. Experience with ethical review applications would be great.
