View profileAhead of our MotherBoard in-person event on May 18th, 4pm – 7pm “Mind the Gap: How Companies Can Close the Parent Divide in Tech” at MOO HQ in London, we had a chance to speak with one of our speakers, Claire Donald, VP of Technology & Product at MOO.
MotherBoard: A bit of background, who are you, what do you do and where do you work?
Claire Donald: Hey, I am Claire and am the VP of Tech & Product at MOO where I lead our everything Digital! I am originally from Scotland, but now live in Weybridge in Surrey with my husband, my 15 year old son and our cat Leo.
MotherBoard: Why is it so important for everyone to keep the topic of diversity in tech at the top of the agenda?
Claire Donald: Diversity in tech is a topic that is very close to my heart, and I believe it is critical for everyone to keep this topic at the top of the agenda.
First and foremost, diversity is essential for building strong and successful teams. When we have a diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds represented on our teams, we are better able to solve complex problems and come up with innovative solutions. This is particularly important in tech, where innovation is key to success.
Secondly, diversity is important for creating a more inclusive workplace culture. When people feel that they belong and are valued for who they are, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated at work. This, in turn, leads to higher levels of productivity, better collaboration, and ultimately, better business results.
Finally, promoting diversity in tech is simply the right thing to do. We live in a diverse world, and it’s essential that our workplaces reflect that diversity. By creating more opportunities for underrepresented groups, we can help to level the playing field and ensure that everyone has an equal chance to succeed.
So, in short, keeping the topic of diversity in tech at the top of the agenda is critical for building strong and successful teams, creating a more inclusive workplace culture, and promoting equality and fairness for all. Thank you for asking!
MotherBoard: What are you most looking forward to about the MotherBoard/ MOO event?
Claire Donald: I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people from a variety of backgrounds and companies and sharing our experiences.
