At an entry-level, for a junior/graduate a typical day rate would be around the £300 mark, at the mid-level around the £350 mark and seniors can expect a day rate of £450+ as a benchmark.

As a Project/ Programme Manager you will naturally find the right balance between building, growing and enhancing internal and external relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring that the delivery of projects within time, budget and scope. You will be technically minded, have a genuine interest in the digital world both in and out of work, with the ability to work closely with the development team, understanding project limitations, capabilities and potential blockers and then communicating through to non-technical teams in a digestible form.

What qualifications does it take?

Prince2 and Agile are almost always essential. Other project management qualifications which are desirable/sought after include Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Also having used Content Management Systems (CMS), including Umbraco, Sitecore, Kentico, Drupal, WordPress, Magento, Joomla and Django and CRM systems including HubSpot, Salesforce, Oracle, Zoho, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics. However, it is possible to enter the field of digital project management without any formal qualifications and get certified on the job/ in free time.
