What did you want to become when you were a kid?

A drummer in a grunge band.

Dave Grohl’s explosive drumming when in Nirvana blew my tiny eight-year-old mind and fell in love with drums from then. He was the inspiration that got me into drumming and to form a grunge/punk band called Pin Munkie when I was fourteen. A year later we did our first proper gig playing our own music at what was McClusky’s (now Whistle Punks Urban Axe Throwing). We had to get our parents to drive us there and wait outside in the car as we were obviously way too cool to be seen with our parents back then.

What does the concept of ‘purpose’ mean to you?

Purpose’ for me is an integral part of modern business success. Making positive change is everything now. It’s something i can really get behind, something to believe in. Working closely with lots of purpose-driven businesses means you get to understand the variety across the word ‘purpose’, creating different drivers, different missions etc. I have a big window into so many organisations, which is really helpful in shaping the meaning of purpose to me.

What is a personal accomplishment that you are proud of outside of work?

Winning Premier League titles multiple times across 5 & 6-a-side football in Bristol with my beloved team, The Filthy Geese (est. 2008), who I’ve captained since 2012.

Tareek specialises in Tech across the Start-up / Scale-up market of the South West, well connected, covering the various disciplines within Software Development, QA, DevOps and Infrastructure.

Helping Start-up’s and Scale-up’s through various stages of growth, Tareek offers a consultative approach on anything from writing a first job description to creating an interview process, to shaping a roadmap of hires, to introducing companies/organisations to his wider network, with a company’s best interests at heart.

He understands no two businesses are the same, so offers a variety of solutions to suit your needs, including a traditional contingent approach, branded campaigns, a subscription model, exclusivity, split payments + more.

He covers all candidate levels, from Junior/Mid to CTO/Head of/Director, really understanding people’s needs and making sure the next move for anyone is right for them on their career path. Tareek also really gets to know a company/organisation by grasping key ingredients like culture, tech stack, what a new hire will be working on, technical direction, personal development plans and training options, by visiting a client site and getting a feel of their true environment while building an honest relationship with the person who’s hiring.

In his spare time he services, refurbishes and builds bicycles, is a self-taught barber, plays 6-a-side football at the highest level in Bristol, dreams about playing drums in a band again, loves socialising but equally a relaxing day out walking in woodlands or going for an easy bike ride (stopping in at a few pubs ideally!).

He also volunteers at the live events of Green Tech South West, the largest green tech community in the South West and has run workshops with Weston College to help guide aspiring Software Developers in their career mapping.
