True Diversity feat. OurCity2030

OurCity2030 was recently added to our EDI Directory so we had a quick chat about their initiative and why they think Diversity and Inclusion is important.

The OurCity2030 initiative aims to support 2,030 young people from low income households, starting from inner city Bristol, to secure a median salary role by 2030, here is our chat.

What’s the purpose and mission of your initiative/ programme/ organisation?

To lift individuals out of poverty, increase representation in the workplace and create a new generation of role models.

What’s the need for Diversity and Inclusion, what’s your take – why is it so important?

Businesses should represent their customers and the communities they’re based in. Bristol is an incredibly diverse city, and a prosperous one – however, that diversity is not mirrored by many of the businesses based here, and that prosperity is not equally shared. Giving young people hope that they have a (good) future can help counteract the feelings of negativity that can lead to division within our society.

How can businesses and potential employers get involved with your initiative/ programme/ organisation?

You can find us at via www.ourcity2030.com.

If you are a part of an initiative, brand or company that proactively champions diversity and would like to be featured as part of the “True Diversity” series please get in touch with Tony.
