True Diversity feat. Towards Change

In this short-form True Diversity interview we’re chatting to Rika Holden, Founder & Project Director at Towards Change, a project aiming to reimagine controversial advertising and update them to messages of positivity by using a civic engagement approach.

Here she discusses the importance of diversity and inclusion in maximizing social and business benefits as well as how the project is reshaping gender portrayal in advertising by inviting diverse voices to reimagine banned ads.

Let’s start with the need for Diversity and Inclusion, what’s your take – why is it so important?

To take a wider range of opinion and optimise more social and business benefit.

Can you share a little bit more about what you do – what’s the purpose and mission of your initiative/ programme/ organisation?

This project revolutionizes gender portrayal in ads through civic engagement, reshaping the industry with alternative narratives. We redefine advertising by inviting diverse voices to reimagine banned advertisements, fostering inclusivity and breaking industry barriers.

What do you consider potential consequences of a lack of Diversity and Inclusion and what do you see as the main benefits of an inclusive workforce?

Low revenues, notoriety, and miscommunication.

How can businesses and potential employers get involved with your initiative/ programme/ organisation?

Join the workshop to reimagine banned adverts.
