Building a third-party streaming team for a key project
- OVO Energy was founded in 2009 and redesigned the energy experience to be fair, effortless, green and simple for all customers.
- They were looking to establish a company integration, doubling the total number of customer accounts.
- For this, they needed to build a new team from scratch, comprising of 2 Senior Data Engineers and a Lead Data Architect.
Scala and Kafka were initial sticking points for the manager, so we pressed for suitable alternatives to increase the flexibility. They agreed to consider candidates with different streaming experience and programming backgrounds which opened a larger pool. We placed 3 highly technical hires.
